Handspinner FleecesThe Corriedale sheep is a merino-lincoln cross, developed in Australia and New Zealand and first brought to this country in 1914. It’s dense fleece is medium fine, 56s grade, with a good length and softness and light shrinkage, somewhat between a medium wool and a long wool.
Corriedale wool is a favorite of hand
spinners in many areas of the country. The sheep are sheared in late February, some people choose the fleece on the ewe before sheering and ask for her fleece by name the next year. We will only offer our BEST fleeces. The staple length will be between 2 1/2 and 4 inches with a nice crimp. An average well skirted fleece weighs between 7and 10 pounds. Fleeces are sold per fleece, by the
pound. $3.00 per pound. Click here to get a separate fleece order form for printing. To order fleeces call Carole at (607) 546-2341 with your color preference (white, and various shades of gray, brown and black) and ask for color availability, exact weight (7-10 pounds per fleece) and total price ($ 3.00 per pound).
